The two concepts ‘reliability' and 'validity’ are significant in quantitative research as they are used to evaluate research quality. While they are widely accepted in quantitative research, there are issues and challenges in applying these two concepts in qualitative research. This chapter discusses the significance of these two concepts in quantitative research and how they are dealt with in qualitative research. Finally, several qualitative research models are briefly presented in relation to their treatment of reliability and validity.
