It is very hard to deny that the RRC as a political entity has a stronger legitimacy than Taiwan. This can be seen in terms of population, area, and number of diplomatic relations owned by RRC, compared with Taiwan. In addition, the PRC has enormous economic influence accompanied by its high military capabilities. As a party competing with Taiwan, the RRC policy has certainly had a direct effect on Taiwan's diplomatic policy steps, especially since Taiwan has always been under Chinese pressure. This chapter will discuss bilateral and international policies of the PRC against Taiwan, as well as how Taiwan's response to the policy.
