Long-term effects of land management on soil erosion, crop yield and on-farm economics in the Philippines

Recognising the seriousness of on-site and off-site problems associated with water erosion in tropical steeplands, ACIAR funded two collaborative projects with institutions in Southeast Asia. Project scientists tested a range of locally-applicable technologies to reduce soil loss rate, to quantify hydrologic and sediment transport processes and develop methodologies to predict runoff, soil and nutrient losses, and the consequences of these losses in terms of soil productivity. This publication brings together the project results.
