This article outlines the development and activity of two of the more successful international professional networks focusing on educational management and organizational change. It also attempts to distil a number of conclusions from these histories. The networks discussed are the Commonwealth Council on Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM) and the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI). Both organizations have provided cross-national and cross-cultural avenues for scholars and practitioners to connect for many years. As such, both have worked to fuse closer links between scholars, system officials, school leaders, and others who work to promote leadership and change across boarders.
