Policy-making in health is complex and dependent upon a range of issues, however one constant is the need for quality and timely information. The availability of information to support policy-making is critical in a modern health system. This chapter examines the ways in which policy is made and used in the health policy-making process and the fundamental role that health information and informatics plays in policy decision making.
