Ion-exclusion chromatography (IEC) is a type of liquid chromatography that was first introduced by Wheaton and Bauman in 1953. Since then IEC has attracted the intensive interest of researchers because of its ability to separate biologically interesting species (low fatty acids, amines, alcohols etc.), which are of special importance for the pharmaceutical industry.
