Chapter 7 describes progress in the synthesis of seven-membered heterocycles featuring up to and including four N, O, or S heteroatoms during 2021. This includes a focus on the development of new methods for the preparation of germane compounds, target-oriented synthesis studies concerning natural products and bioactive molecules within these classes, and work to access relevant seven-membered heterocycles with potential applications in materials science.
