Discussions involving technology and sustainability raise a number of questions: How is technology implicated in the causes of unsustainability? Are technologies neutral tools able to serve the goal of sustainability as easily as any other? Or are technologies out of human control, or perhaps even in control of human destiny? Or are technologies complex political arrangements able to be renegotiated in a spirit of sustainability?
