Abstract
The term zinc‐finger is used to describe several small protein domains in which one or more zinc ions stabilize the folded structure. Many zinc‐finger genes contain more than one zinc‐finger domain and these domains act as interaction motifs, contacting such diverse partners as other proteins, DNA, RNA or lipids.
