Bring us your doors Art3: Dr Sue Henderson, Penny Mason, David Marsden Bring us your doors is part of an ongoing collaborative project (by art3) in which makeshift 2D and 3D collage techniques are utilized to transform banal materials discarded by home renovators into extraordinary, speculative spaces. In this (fourth) iteration, the aesthetics of detritus are mobilized to evoke a series of portals that twist and distort experience and expectations. Dead ends, blind alleys and unexpected crannies and cavities generate a disturbing confusion that is modulated by hand printed and painted patterned surfaces. The project engages with ambivalence, particularly the implications our desire for fun, stuff and experience by repositioning and reappraising the throwaway.
