This project provides an immersive aural/visual experience that evokes the sounds, views, atmosphere and memories of train travel through the industrial areas of northern Geelong. The project’s sights and sounds blend the past, present and future of industry and its immense contribution to the culture of Geelong. The project explores how evocative methods of aural and visual representation can connect the specificities of the city’s former factory workers and present residents’ embodied social and cultural memories to broader themes of post-industrialisation and their architectonic resonances, addressing an important need for architectural studies to be extended in relation to the ability of sound to demarcate space.
