Journey: The Southern Gospel Choir in the USA

Integral to Legg's research dealing with the transculturalisation of African american gospel music into the Australian context, this documentary film, co-produced by Legg, Stewart Long and Digital Kitchen, documents the (1) SGC tour in the USA, (2) the broader research project and (3) key elements of the effect of the cultural exchange experience. The documentary also clearly demonstrates audience reaction and responses to the the SGC performances, and to Legg's original compositions, underpinning the research findings and providing a strong narrative to support the research. Published by digital Kitchen and first screened in December 2015, it slated for broadcast and then distribution by the ABC through its Compass program in April 2016. This supports the growing national and international impact of the SGC, and Legg's research.
