Scientific writing follows a certain format and the language used may be daunting to a lay (or non-expert) audience. A major aspect of writing reports is to communicate the findings to a scientific audience.
However being able to explain your work to a lay audience is essential. With governmental policies on climate change, drug dispersal, and vaccination being determined by people who have no training in science, the ability to communicate scientific results in a clear and understandable manner is more important than ever.
