Inspired by the ‘corridors/networks’ of the Internet, Silicone Valley is a tactile floor to ceiling installation comprising 300,000 obsolete computer keys, covering 90 square metres of wall space in a stairwell and corridor at Hobart’s Rose Bay High School. Placing the unidentified histories of those who have touched and communicated, through these particular computer keys, in direct contact with local school students, continues Vella’s research into physical and psychological frottage.
