Tasmanian Young Artist Award 2017

2017 has thus far proven to be a tumultuous year for artists and teachers in terms of the folding of some longstanding Tasmanian Arts community stalwarts, such as Birchall’s and Tasmanian Regional Arts. It is wonderfully heartening to see inspiring and energising initiatives such as the Tasmanian Young Artist Awards unfolding, particularly for the forthcoming generations of creatives that Tasmania will produce, and the wonderful art teachers who support them in their emerging practices. Having the Tasmanian Young Artist Awards as an integral component of the Tasmanian Craft Fair will no doubt augment the reputation of the initiative, and on behalf of Tasmania’s students and their teachers, we wish to acknowledge the organisers behind this event. Their preparedness to create an opportunity within which Tasmania’s students can cultivate their artist practice is excitedly received by the Tasmanian art teacher community.
