Collins, Bell, and Paulsen were invited to create a program featuring Schoenberg’s String Quartet for Museum of Old and New Art’s (MONA)‘Dark MOFO’ festival 2016 following the success of a performance of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, performed for MONA’s ‘Synaesthesia +’ festival 2014. The repertoire: Taverner’s Akhmatova Songs and Sculthorpe's From Ubirr and Schoenberg's 2nd String Quartet is generally performed to a small, knowing audience. The aim of the performance was to evoke a poetic response to a solstice ritual through complex classical music, and disseminate this to a much broader audience than is customary for such repertoire.
