Cognitive models of unmanned aerial vehicle operators

We evaluate whether cognitive models of rapid choice can be used to understand the underlying factors affecting performance in a multi-tasking environment. Participants perform a simulated unmanned aerial vehicle navigation and target detection task under differing degrees of time pressure and target-discrimination difficulty. We fit choice models to operator data to identify the underlying psychological factors that determine observed operator performance, and discuss practical implications.
