Warfarin is a valuable medication used in the treatment and prevention of thromboembolic conditions. Problems associated with warfarin use are mostly related to suboptimal control of therapy. Improved patient knowledge levels regarding warfarin have been identified as improving the outcomes of therapy. Community-based studies consistently find that warfarin knowledge is poor. Health professionals and consumers require access to comprehensive, consumer-focused educational materials to help address this deficit.
