Factors that affect students’ motivation to enrol in an elective second language subject
Australia’s languages education is struggling with declining enrolments in the post-compulsory years, resulting in less than fourteen per cent of year twelve students graduating with a second language (L2). Understanding what factors affect students’ motivation when considering elective L2 enrolment is crucial to addressing this decline.
