The requirement to perform operational fire management is a fundamental aspect of the Australian environment. When fires are being managed, for both planned burning and wildfire control, a comprehensive knowledge of the fuels being burnt is of critical importance. This paper aims to assist with this by testing under Tasmanian conditions the fuel hazard rating system developed by the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment and developing fuel hazard prediction models
