There is evidence that executive deficits are apparent several years prior to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Backman et al., 2004). However, less is clear about the pattern of executive functioning in MCI, the proposed prodromal phase of AD, particularly in terms of the revised subtypes. The aim of the present study was to examine the executive functioning of MCI subtypes 12 months after a classification assessment. It was hypothesised that a-MCI+ and na-MCI groups would continue to display deficits to executive processing at 12 months follow up.
