This has the potential to create an overload of geonotes - wherever we go, there may be tens, perhaps hundreds of geonotes. Even if all are informative and interesting, we simply cannot view them all; and many of them will not be of interest to a particular person. Cultural heritage is a domain where there is both the potential for valuable information delivery via geonotes. Personalization offers a way to reduce, perhaps avoid, this anticipated information overload. To make this work, we propose to enable the person creating a geonote to associate it with information to support personalization. This can include: a relevant part of their own profile; a model of the target users and the context for the geonote. Such personalized geonotes can be filtered on the set of such models leaving just those most relevant for them. This paper introduces the novel idea of personalized geonotes, using an extended scenario and outline for an architecture to support this.
