Species distribution modelling for the Grey Goshawk
conference contribution
posted on 2023-05-24, 10:33 authored by Tierney, ESpecies distribution modelling is based on the premise that all species have an ecological niche, a multidimensional utilisation distribution constrained by limiting factors of biotic and abiotic varieties. With available spatial data on habitat requirements, modelling seeks to predict habitat in areas where a species has not been observed by extrapolating identified statistical relationships between key limiting landscape spatial data variables and observation records. In this study, the distribution, habitat and conservation status of the Grey Goshawk in north-western Tasmania was examined through comparative analysis with previous studies and the use of the species distribution model, Maxent.
