The Good Neighbour: strategies emerging from interviews with African men in Tasmania
conference contribution
posted on 2023-05-24, 09:21 authored by Harris, AJThe Good Neighbour This study is based on interviews with African men who have settled in Tasmania. Two rounds of interviews have been conducted to date, and participants all identified that communal forms of help-seeking and help-giving are the norm for them. Elders of famiilies and communities play an important role in this. The communal context for seeking and providing help includes a presumption of close involvement between community members, and suggestions are made for ways in which Tasmanian service providers can mirror this in order to better support entrants
