Vessel Turnaround Time (VTT) is one of the key performance indicators in measuring performance of ports and terminals. Port competition is increasing at an alarming rate with the increase in global throughput. In the first stage of this study, VTT is analyzed with respect to few nominal values such as berthing terminal, service type, size of the vessels, time of the day and day of the week. In the next stage, VTT is analyzed with regard to two major container terminals in Port of Colombo, Terminal 1 which is operated under Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Terminal 2 which is operated under private operator, while developing multiple linear regression models by identifying significant factors affecting VTT. Proposed models for VTT are developed taking loading containers, unloading containers, berthing delays, crane productivity and crane utilization in to consideration with regard to both terminals and service types.
