The University of Tasmania owns and leases approx. 140 vehicles for university business travel. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing procurement of fuel-efficient vehicles and exploring use of alternative fuels, are important elements of the University’s sustainability agenda for vehicle fleet management. The four hybrid and three electric vehicles avoided 1.5 tCO2-e emissions, and $750 in fuel costs in 2015-16. The presentation discusses the University’s motivations, barriers and issues in using EVs.
