In this paper, a robust control system is proposed for controlling the input DC voltage and the output AC voltage and frequency of the load-side converters in stand-alone wind energy systems. The proposed controller consists of voltage regulators based on a PI-like fuzzy technique and a current-mode controlled boost converter. The proposed controller is tested on several operation and fault conditions. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with a conventional PI-based controller in terms of the Total Harmonic Distortion of the output voltages. ©2010 IEEE.
