Navigating the internal landscape: an artistic interpretation of disease investigates the impact of cancer on our contemporary lives. Cancer can happen within any part of the body. In Australia, the most widespread cancers are that of lungs, breast, colon and prostate. Cancers overtake the supplies of the normal cells and grow rapidly. At some stage, not only have they spread in a local organ but also disperse to the other parts of the body. That means transport of abnormal cancer cells to the entire body and hence the same cancer can grow in many other areas of our person. Such a stage is called metastasis. People affected by cancer undergo severe pain. All the nutrition goes to feeding the cancer cells hence they become very weak and in many instances cancer has a major impact on their mental stability, social and family life.
