During the development process of the inclusive VR museum gallery prototype, we looked at how can we build the system that helps users with specific needs, such as people with limited mobility, people with autism Spectrum disorder, people with medical conditions such as obesity, or alzheimer’s disease and, more generally, marginalised groups. The creation process begins with identifying the specific need in terms of customizations suitable for a number of inclusive users, this is done by involving a number of individuals and organizations from the inclusive community. This means we will see a non-standard VR museum prototype customizable for a number of different inclusive users based on specialized needs, physically and mentally. The room-scale VR space will work on how inclusive users move-about virtually (locomotion), and how different users may interact differently with cultural heritage objects and context in the VR space. Room-scale VR experience has been made possible with the introduction of sensor-based head mount displays (HMD). However, the user experience and criteria for hyper-realistic VR in the inclusive museum context requires further study in terms of method and apparatus, and design consideration.
