The crystal structure and oxidative addition reaction of 1-bromo-2,6-bis[(pyrazol-1-yl)-methyl]benzene were discussed. It was observed that the pendant pyrazole rings formed dihedral angles of 83.8(3) and 89.3(3)° with the central planar unit of the compound. It was found that a platinum complex with the [N-C-N] group was formed during the oxidative addition reaction of 1-bromo-2,6-bis[(pyrazol-1-yl)-methyl]benzene with [PtMe2(SEt2). Results show that the assymetric unit comprised of a single molecule and the planes of peripheral pyrazole were quasi-normal to the central ring.
