Rights statement

First published by Island magazine. Reviews a biography of autodidact miner and naturalist, 'Deny' King MOA. The review situates the conflicts arising from mining, and conserving, the southwest wilderness area of Tasmania; a steward of the region (recording plant discoveries; protecting the endangered orange-bellied parrot) Deny was also an agent of change. Constructing an airstrip he unwittingly facilitated tourist visits, along with the accidental importation of environmental pests and weeds.
