The monthly meeting of the Royal Society of Tasmania was held at the Tasmanian Museum on Tuesday, June 12, 1906. His Excellency Sir Gerald Strickland who was accompanied by Lady Edeline Strickland, and accompanied by Mr. Geo.. Browne, I.S.O., presided.<br>Dr. Gerard Smith read a highly technical paper entitled "The Biological Ancestry of Some Human Diseases." Mr. E. M. Johnston called attention of members of the society to the process presented by Captain E. T. McFie for preserving timber, and suggested that a series of tests should be made in order to ascertain its merits.<br>Mr. E. C. Nowell read a lengthy paper, on Democracy and Socialism.
