Welcome to the second issue of the Australian Senior Mathematics Journal for2018. As the end of the year approaches, and senior classes in particular start winding up, those of us who teach senior secondary classes may have the opportunity to reflect on the year we have had. Between marking the last of our students’ work (which always seems to hit in the last two weeks!), finalising grades for all of our classes, finishing the year with classes in lower year levels, and of course planning for the summer holidays and all its festivities, while the year is fresh in our memories we can start thinking about how we might continue to improve our teaching for next year, how we might go about teaching new content (either new to the curriculum, or new to us), and how we can continue to develop our teaching programmes to improve student engagement and achievement.
