Seaward-facing terraces along the south-western coastline of Tasmania are suggestive of late Cainozoic uplift. Dating of speleothems from two caves at New River Lagoon on the south coast appears to constrain coastal uplift since the Last Interglacial to less than 10m and possibly less than 4 m. Caves and terraces at 70-80 m are unlikely to be less than 600 ka old and are probably much older.
