Prof Peter E Davies has worked as a volunteer with the Friends of the Sandy Bay Rivulet for nearly a decade and during this time the active community group have assisted in planting reeds along Council dug pits to encourage native fish spawning. More recently Prof Davies, the Hobart City Council and the Friends of the Sandy Bay Rivulet have worked together to design a novel solution to enable the native Galaxias fish access and passage through a long road culvert. This has been done as the movement of the fish, up and down the reaches of the stream is a necessary part of their lifecycle
