Historic origins of the Admiralty Court

journal contribution
posted on 2023-05-17, 15:17 authored by Cremean, DJ

Often we overlook the antiquity of some of our institutions. We may deal with them perhaps on a daily basis-without knowing much at all about how they came into being. When we do begin to explore their origins, we may gain an entirely new appreciation of them. We may come to realise that they exist today only because of events which took place many years, perhaps centuries, ago.

These things could be said of many of our legal institutions. But a case clearly in point is the Admiralty Court.
