In the next decade there will probably be an increased emphasis on integrated emphasis on integrated and 'join up' services as a preferred model for service delivery in human services. This will be driven by the persistent and appealing belief that integrated services will deliver better client outcomes and make better use of increasingly scarce resources. However, the 'holy grail' of service integration has often been characterised by a paucity of objective evaluation data to support claims of effectiveness, and identify the characteristics of a successful integrated model.
