As early as 1904, whilst a pupil of Hutchins School, Hobart, Clive Lord became interested in the subject of his life's work-the natural history of Tasmania. In that year a small band of enthusiasts founded the Tasmanian Field Natural.ists' Club, and Mr. Octavius Lord took his son to the earliest meetings.
As he passed from youth to manhood his interest in the club and its activities grew under the inspired guidance of such leaders as Leonard Rodway, and from an old Club programme of 1911 we learn that Lord had by that year reached the Honorary Secretaryship, the prineipal position in the organisation.
