The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in march 2020 created many work related and safety changes in the Australian community sector. Foe example, the pandemic had a dramatic effect on primary homelessness and alcohol and other drags (AOD) programs in terms of work place interaction with people requiring support, and in terms of funding opportunities and staff location.
In this brief paper, I will outline some of the major changes and challenges that occurred within the Salvation Army homeless programs, at a state and national level due to COVID_19. The findings are based on five national COVID-19 learnings Workshop conducted online October 2020 with approximately 60 managers and specialist workers from the Salvation Army.
