journal contribution
posted on 2023-05-16, 20:02 authored by Hannen, VM, Amos, K, van den Berg, AM, Bieber, RK, Deb, PK, Ellinghaus, F, Frekers, D, Hagermann, M, Harakeh, MN, Heyes, J, de Huu, MA, Krusemann, BAM, Rakers, S, Schmidt, R, van der Werf, SY, Wortche, HJThe polarization-transfer coefficient [Formula Presented] in the elastic scattering of 150-MeV protons from [Formula Presented] has been measured in the angular range [Formula Presented] Significant deviations of [Formula Presented] from unity are observed starting around a center-of-mass scattering angle of [Formula Presented] The observed angular variation of [Formula Presented] is analyzed using phenomenological and microscopically generated optical-model potentials to describe the monopole attributes of elastic scattering and to generate the distorted waves used in a distorted-wave approximation evaluation of nonzero multipole contributions to the elastic scattering process. The same approach is used to analyze datasets of [Formula Presented] in elastic scattering from [Formula Presented] and off [Formula Presented] which are available in the literature. The agreement of the fully microscopic analysis with the data is comparable or, in the case of [Formula Presented] slightly better than what is achieved with conventional phenomenological optical-model calculations. © 2003 The American Physical Society.
