Modelling private timber supply - a survey of approaches
journal contribution
posted on 2023-05-16, 12:33 authored by Sarah JenningsSarah Jennings, Matysek, ALAttention is drawn to the importance of non-industrial private forest (NIPF) growers as a source of timber supply in Australia and to the need to develop our formal economic modelling capabilities in this area. Some fundamental economic concepts are defined in relation to timber supply. Within the context of a review of the empirical literature in this area, we highlight existing methods for analysing NIPF timber supply and issues to be addressed in identifying economic modelling needs in Australia. Finally, a proposed extension of the stated preference approach to choice modelling to the field of NIPF timber supply analysis is suggested. © 1999 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
