Notes on the geology of the King River, together with a brief account of the history of gold-mining in Australasia.

The first evidence of the fossiliferous rocks in this part of the country was obtained by Mr. T. B. Moore, while engaged in opening up new tracks in this rugged country in the neighbourhood of the King River in the year 1884. With respect to the party, 32 in number, organised by Mr. Chas. Gould, in 1862 and 1863, for the purpose of searching for gold and other minerals in the vicinity of the King and Gordon Rivers, it is now of the greatest interest to reproduce an account of the general results of their labours.
