In 1927 a sea-snake was captured at Scamander by Mr. K. Gatenby and Mr. Ransom. The animal was subsequently presented to the Queen Victoria Museum, Launceston, by Mr. S. Tulloch Scott; and on making an examination of the specimen last year I came to the conclusion it was Hydrophis ornatus, variety ocellatus Gray. As the normal habitat of this species is the North Australian Goast (though an individual was caught in the Hawkesbury River, N.S.W., in 1925), the Scamander specimen was submitted to Mr. J. R. Kinghorn, C.M.Z.S., Zoologist, Australian Museum, Sydney, who kindly made an examination of it, and confirmed the determination. This adds a third species to the list of sea-snakes recorded from Tasmanian waters.
