The Evitability of Software Patents

Hobbling software with a medieval artifact like the patent may stifle innovation. As a direct result, the moneyed few get the most benefit at the expense of others. However, good arguments can be made for avoiding software patents, and for other more practical and just forms of monopoly for software.
