The preparation, use and effectiveness of compost teas are discussed. Compost teas are effective against a wide range of plant pathogens, if properly prepared and applied. A non-sterile fish waste-wood waste compost was manipulated to cultivate several non-sporing biocontrol bacteria. High cell numbers of the inoculated bacteria in compost were achieved with two non-sporing isolates achieving near-monoculture status after 10 to 14 days ambient incubation.
