The collection documents, through seven newly created original compositions, a compositional voice influenced by the likes of Thelonious Monk and Kurt Rosenwinkel. The works differs from others in the field through compositions and group language unique to the recorded ensemble, featuring idiosyncratic group polyrhythm arising from the improvised investigation of rhythmic cells, and new harmonic language arising from improvised counterpoint. The works mix style and genre, compositionally combining diverse canonical languages such as modern jazz, pop, 20th Century classical composition and free improvisation.
