Wither's Hymnes and Songs of the Church

Performance of George Wither's Hymnes and Songs of the Church (1623) using the melodies provided in the original edition as composed by Orlando Gibbons. Performance was given by Anne-Marie Forbes (alto) and David O'Neill (organist) from a facsimile of the original edition and with observance of historical performance practice. All melodies in the collection were performed with selected verses of Wither's poetry in brackets of music that were given hourly corresponding with readings from the King James Bible from 10am to 5pm.
