Since 2016, a private philanthropic funder and MONA 24 Carrot Project have conducted the Kitchen Garden Program (KGP) at a school which follows the national Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden model. The multi-dimensional program offers opportunities for students, and parents and carers to work with kitchen garden program staff in learning about growing, harvesting, preparing and cooking skills. The program also provides alternate learning opportunities for students identified as requiring specialised learning opportunities. In 2020 plans were put in place to expand the program through providing additional resources and new infrastructure to support the introduction of new initiatives with the aim of achieving improved health and learning outcomes from the program for both the school and broader community. Funding has been allocated to evaluate the expanded program as it is implemented during the school terms in years 2022-2024
