The State of Launceston Children’s report was first conducted in 2014 as a means of pursuing recognition as a “Child Friendly City” by UNICEF, an idea that emphasises the central role that children should play in their communities. While this status is yet to be achieved, maintaining and improving the wellbeing of children is an objective that the Greater Launceston community remains committed to. Hence, this report is an update from 2014 and a continuation of the ambition to bring awareness and understanding of how Launceston’s children are faring.
