Junction Arts Festival is a multi-arts international festival that not only makes a significant contribution to the social and cultural development of the Launceston community, but also is an important driver of local economic development. It has been successful in these aims – we estimate that Junction injected approximately $1,982,686 (31% more than in 2013) to the Launceston economy and greatly increased its artistic and community vibrancy. In 2014 the Festival also offered a more family orientated program, which attracted an audience with diverse backgrounds, many of whom had not attended Junction before (28%). The basis of this report is an analysis of the demographic characteristics and spending patterns of the Festival attendees obtained by a range of survey instruments completed by the attendees to the various Junction Art Festival events.
